THE PLOT:
The Read family drops their entire lives and moves to Mexico when Elliot decides to make a bold move and invest in a doll
company. But when he gets there the factory is a dump and that's still the least of their worries. The factory is near the
site of an ancient burial ground that housed an ancient king that was born of a demon.
Now the dolls have become "demonic toys" and they have big plans for the youngest member of the family, Jessica.
If something isn't done to stop the dolls, then it could spell the end of the world as we know it.
ZEDD'S OPINION:
I got to admit I am a fan of Dolly Dearest. One of the most unique looking toy monsters in a while. All though they stole
the idea from Child's Play, they still have some good ideas. The way they make the dolls move work. The budget must have been
somewhat small, they seem to be able to afford only one Dolly Dearest that moves, but with the use of clever editing and child
stand-ins. It gave the illusion that there were dozens of living dolls running around the factory. I got to admit that was
clever and impressive. The star power works to, Denise Crosby of Star Trek TNG and Rip Torn of MIB fame work well together.
The dialog works and basically it's a pretty good movie. So I give Dolly Dearest and 8 out of 10 STARS.

VOLTRON'S OPINION:
I agree with Zedd on the most part. But I had trouble witht he pace of the film. It started out very slowly, but it does
pick up. It's not boring, just slow at first. But when it gets going, it gets going fast. But a slow start. That's why
I give it 7 STARS.

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):
+ DOLLY DEAREST (The Dolly Dearest is a good design.)
+ DOLLY EFFECTS (The one that moves really does work well.)
+ EDITING (With a clever use of editing, it makes it appears that there is hundreds of dollys that came to life and not
just one.)
+ STAND-INS (With the clever use of stand-ins, it makes it appear that all the dolls have come to life.)
+ CAST (The cast does a great job.)
+ STORY (For a Child's Play and Demonic Toys rip off, it works well.)
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):
- SLOW START (It's a slow start, but when it finally does get going it's worth the watch.)
...AND FINALLY...
- FAN BASED (If you aren't one for killer toys, then this isn't the movie for you.)
